Summer weather is officially here and with it comes some of my favorite outdoor events of the year. The best part? All of these are family-friendly and free.
Check out my list of Los Gatos summer events below.
Music in the Park
Date: Every Sunday starting July 7th and ending August 4th
Location: Los Gatos Civic Center lawn
Music in the Park is a summer concert series showcasing different acts each week. Blankets are not allowed, so bring a chair to sit on. The lawn fills up quickly, with people arriving as early as 3pm to set up their spots, so go early to reserve a space.
Tip: This event is fun in groups and wine is allowed, so get together with friends to organize a picnic. While blankets aren’t allowed, small tables are, so set up several chairs around your table and create your own picnic area. Set up early to get a spot in the shade (this event gets hot) then take a stroll through downtown Los Gatos for a late lunch, a bit of shopping, or a glass of wine.
Date: Every Saturday in June and July
Location: Vasona Park, on the lawn down the hill from the pedestrian entrance at University and Pepper Tree Lane
Grab your blankets and chairs and head over to Vasona Park for this fun outdoor summer concert series. Music ranges from blues to jazz, with a different band playing each week. Bring your own picnic or purchase food and drinks from the vendor onsite.
Jazz on the Plazz
Date: Wednesdays starting June 19th and ending August 21st
Location: Los Gatos Town Plaza
The name says it all. This summer concert series showcases different Jazz performers each week as you relax on Town Plaza’s lawn right in the middle of downtown Los Gatos.
Los Gatos Summer Block Parties
Date: One Thursday per month in June, July and August. June 20th, July 18th, August 8th
Location: Town Plaza Park and Grays Lane
This is one of my favorite events of the summer. The Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce and several local businesses get together to host a fun, family-friendly party downtown. There’s live music at Town Plaza from 5pm-7pm, and a DJ at Grays Lane starting at 7pm. Wine and beer are available at both Town Plaza and Grays Lane, and the shops stay open late on block party nights. There are also tons of games set up throughout the block party (life size Jenga, anyone?) This is such a fun way to spend a Thursday night in the summer.
